Maintenance records and Fleet status are connected operationally, but they are not the same control.

Maintenance records

A maintenance record stores service history: service type, date, next service date, mileage checkpoints, cost, provider, attachment URL, notes, and service status.

Fleet vehicle status

Fleet status controls whether a car is operationally ready. Use maintenance when a vehicle is being serviced and should not be assigned. Use unavailable when the vehicle should not be offered for another operational reason.

Dashboard maintenance alerts

The dashboard shows Maintenance alerts for non-completed maintenance records. Each alert shows the service type and service date.

Best practice

When service starts, create or update the maintenance record and set the vehicle status appropriately. When service is complete, mark the maintenance record completed and review whether the vehicle status should return to available.
