Fix Website and Custom Domain Problems

Website and custom domain issues usually come from missing public website setup, plan limits, agency approval, DNS records, or propagation time.

Public website checks

• Confirm Website settings has agency branding, contact details, policies, pickup places, website controls, legal pages, and template choice.
• Confirm at least one public vehicle is published and available for booking.
• Open My website from the dashboard to preview the live customer site.

Custom domain locked

The Custom domain page can show Custom domain locked. Reasons include a plan below Enterprise, agency approval still pending, or no billable access after the trial ends.

Domain setup rules

• Only agency owners can manage custom domains.
• The agency must be approved.
• The agency must have an Enterprise plan with billable access.
• The current plan allows one custom domain per Enterprise agency.
• Use one primary domain such as rent.example.com or www.example.com. Do not add both apex and www for the same agency in the MVP.

Verification states

• verification_required: add the ownership record and verify again.
• dns_required: ownership is verified but DNS routing has not propagated.
• pending: setup is still propagating.
• active: ownership and DNS routing are confirmed.
• error: Vercel could not confirm the domain at that time.

DNS timing

DNS changes can take a few minutes and sometimes up to 48 hours. Keep the displayed DNS records in place while verification is pending.
